Clement Arts is proud to present Clement Kids Music — an interactive musical experience for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents. Through a Kindermusik-style curriculum, children and parents will enjoy a fun and engaging shared experience while learning the fundamentals of music in a group setting.
About the Classes
Toddler Class (12 mos – 2 yrs)
From dancing and listening to new sounds and rhythms to exploring and playing all kinds of instruments, toddler music classes are designed to develop your child cognitively, socially, and musically. Best of all, you’re right there with your child, interacting with one other, learning together, and supporting a musical head start. During this time, we will learn musical concepts such as steady beat, tempo, musical form, musical contour, high/low, and loud/quiet. We will explore the physical characteristics and sounds of age-appropriate instruments. We will learn to say words and phrases, imitate rhythm and vocal inflection, and develop the child’s singing voice through songs, chants, and activities. We will listen to stories that will enhance language and speech development, fostering awareness of sounds, teaching use of language, and sending the message that words and symbols have meaning. But most importantly, we will do all of this while inspiring the love of music through play!
Preschool Class (3-5 yrs)
With cognitive, emotional, and social benefits, preschool music classes are designed to nurture the child’s budding creativity through songs, stories, instrument ensembles, and pretend play. This class gives an outlet for self-expression by capitalizing on the preschooler’s capacity for imaginary play and interest in making up stories and rhymes. Through singing, we will expand each child’s song repertoire, help them begin to match pitch, and teach them to use their voices expressively. These curious learners will have lots of opportunities to stretch their cognitive abilities through labeling, repetition, sequencing, and participating in pretend play. We will practice gross motor skills through hopping, skipping, running, and walking as we add the challenge of moving to a musical cue. With so much fun that we won’t realize we’re learning, we will help develop natural musical skills and teach a beginning vocabulary of music terms.
Proceeds from class help support local adoption and foster care.
Clement Kids classes are open to all children in the community.

About the Instructor: Lauren Wood
Lauren Wood has been involved in music since she can remember. She holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education with an emphasis in voice from Shorter University. In 2012, she moved to Columbus, Georgia to teach general music and direct the elementary, middle, and high school choirs at Calvary Christian School. Since the birth of her son, she now teaches K3-5th grade music and directs the 3rd-5th grade elementary chorale at Calvary. She also helps direct the school-wide musical and teaches private voice and beginning piano lessons from her home. She is passionate about nurturing the young child’s social, emotional, and physical development through joyful, musically rich play. She loves to help children realize the musical gifts the Lord has granted them, and encourage them to use those gifts to the glory of God. Lauren and her husband, Jesse, share a passion for gospel-centered adoption and foster care, and she is excited about partnering with Clement Arts through Clement Kids Music.
