Clement Kids Music

Summer Camp 2017

Campers at Clement Arts Music Camp will discover the joy of music through the exploration of instruments and voice!  Through learning to play instruments, creative play, movement, dance, and song students will gain experience with all of the fundamentals of music. Campers will walk away from this week-long session with a foundation in music that will prepare them for success in their future musical endeavors. No musical experience necessary!

Lower elementary aged campers will play pitched percussion instruments such as Boomwackers, hand bells, glockenspiels, xylophones, and unpitched percussion such as hand drums, maracas, shakers, triangles, bongos, and more!  They will learn group pieces to perform by the end of the week!

Upper grade elementary and middle school campers will have the fun opportunity to play the bucket drum and learn the basics of drumming.  We will cover some basic stick technique and then learn to work together some play some fun grooves!  By the end of the week, we will learn a group piece and play together.  They will also explore pitched percussion with glockenspiels and xylophones, and learn the basics of the soprano recorder!

Campers of all ages will have the opportunity to hear guest musicians, and they will end each day using their own instrument – their voice – in choir rehearsal where they will learn singing techniques and (for upper grade students) harmonization!

Proceeds from camp help support local adoption and foster care.

Clement Kids classes are open to all children in the community.

Lauren Wood has been involved in music since she can remember. She holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education with an emphasis in voice from Shorter University. In 2012, she moved to Columbus, Georgia to teach general music and direct the elementary, middle, and high school choirs at Calvary Christian School. Since the birth of her son, she now teaches K3-5th grade music and directs the 3rd-5th grade elementary chorale at Calvary. She also helps direct the school-wide musical and teaches private voice and beginning piano lessons from her home. She is passionate about nurturing the young child’s social, emotional, and physical development through joyful, musically rich play. She loves to help children realize the musical gifts the Lord has granted them, and encourage them to use those gifts to the glory of God. Lauren and her husband, Jesse, share a passion for gospel-centered adoption and foster care, and she is excited about partnering with Clement Arts through Clement Kids Music.
